Today’s Outfit Idea: The Fun to Say, Fun to Wear Snood

All right, all you ladies who push your style aside because you’re too dang busy just trying to get your kids or your partner or yourself out the door in the morning – the Fastionista is here to ease your style fear.

Who doesn’t like fashion that’s as fun to say as it is to wear? “Snood” is my word of the day. Say it aloud: Snood! The Fastionista likes to smile when she’s putting together an outfit. Snood has a few different meanings, but we’re using it here in the context of a snood collar: a separate piece that’s essentially a scarf with the ends sewn together. So here’s what’s in my closet today:

· Accessories: Beginning with my snood, of course, which is grey and on the heavier side to keep out the morning chill (if it gets too warm later in the day, I can always remove it). I’ll keep my other accessories on the simple side since I have a colorful and patterned outfit in mind. Let’s say a silver charm bracelet and an oversized silver fashion ring with a cool twisty design to it.

· Color Block Pencil Skirt: Here’s where I’ll bring in a color and pattern blast. Check out this Express skirt in “Get the Look!” which features this fall’s red and a block of purple around the bottom. Since my sweater and snood are neutral, this pop of color is essential to keep Le Fastionista from fading into le wallpaper.

· V-neck Sweater: My sweater is the same grey as my snood, but since we’re dealing with neutrals here it would be fine to do a two-toned look with, say, a heather grey snood and a charcoal sweater. The V-neck collar is the style I want to use with a snood; otherwise, say with a boat collar or crewneck, the styles may clash.

· Purse: I’ll send some reinforcements to the purple in my outfit and go with a purple bucket bag. Basic black would be fine too.

· SHOES!: My shoes are why a black purse would be OK to go with if I didn’t want to carry my purple bag. Normally I’m not a fan of matching shoes with my handbag, only because the hard-and-fast rule about doing so is very outdated. But I say if you happen to match without trying, more power to you, especially when we’re talking about black – one of the most necessary “colors” in any wardrobe. I’ll wear my black heeled ankle boots with my outfit today.
